Buddha:
The Buddha, represented by the face in this mirror, is considered, according to Buddhism, to be a being who has attained maximum enlightenment through meditation.
Buddha in Sanskrit means "the Awakened One": today, scholars have come to recognise that this name refers to a real personage, Siddhartha Gautama, who lived between about 560 and 480 BC.
After his encounter with suffering and pain, Siddhartha ran away from his palace at night, abandoning his family, and got rid of his noble clothes to dress poorly. He then embarked on a long series of experiences to understand the meaning of existence.
After overcoming the temptations of Mara, the infernal ruler of Death, Siddhartha had what he called the "Awakening": the full awareness of the cause of evil, suffering and death in the World. The Buddha later decided to share and transmit this knowledge to others. He went to Benares, where he gave his first famous discourse in the Gazelle Park. From then on he spent his life teaching. At the age of eighty, Buddha passed away in Kushinagara, but his teachings and Buddhist doctrine continued to live on and spread.
This decorative frameless wall mirror, which pays homage to this incredible and beautiful reality, aims to recreate in the design of the furniture a feeling of peace and relaxation for moments of tranquillity and meditation.
